The Assyrian people is one that we will leave the richest manifestations, especially in sculpture. It is a more rigid and bloody power than previous, a fact that will be reflected in the representations. It begins to stand out after the Third Dynasty of Ur, but it will be stronger from the XIX century B.C.

In the cities of Nimud, Dur-Sahrrukin and Nineveh will be where we find the most important manifestations. The revered god, with Naciona character is Assur, depicted as a winged sun disk.

The Assyrians developed a great empire and become the power of Mesopotamia. It is a military monarchy. The most important kings are Ashurnasirpal II (century IX, 883-859.), Who establishes the capital in Nirnud; Salmanesar III (858-824) and maintains the capital; Sargon II the Great (721-705) placing the capital at Khorsabad; Senaquerizo (705-631) to move the capital to Nineveh; and Assurbanipal (669-626) which hold the capital Nínive
