The Ara Pacis is a representation in marble of what is called Templum minus (Temple minor or provisional). The temples with this characteristic were demarcated with a wooden palisade, depicted inside the walls (11 by 10 meters) that bound the sacred terrain, and that welcomed inside the altar. The monument, today still existing, has doors in the east and west walls. The walls are raised on a pedestal and accessed inside by a staircase located on the west side.
The monument in question is a representation of the work of beautification and renovation of the Roman capital. In this sense, the altar is one of the most representative buildings of the Golden Age Augustea, this being a lasting of the work not only of the almost immortal marble, but of the vivid colors that it presented in its time of splendor.
